Being Chief Executive for Shepway Sports Trust is an honour for me. I grew up in Folkestone and was heavily involved in sport throughout this time. The area has always been close to my heart so I have real enthusiasm and passion to make a positive difference in our community through sport and physical activity. Our vision and mission are ambitious and I am relishing the opportunity to work with a range of people and organisations to make sport happen for beginners, elite athletes and everyone in between. We have something very special happening in this community and I am very grateful to be a part of it.

I have had a passion for sport for as long as I can remember but the two sports which have been my greatest passion have been boxing and motorsport.  I feel very privileged to be working for such a great charity who are making a real difference to people’s lives and creating so many opportunities to get active no matter what their ability or background. With the support given to clubs and other organisations within the district we can collectively make Shepway the leaders in terms of sports development and what we do within our community.

I am responsible for developing, maintaining and managing specific projects and I have been lucky enough to work with partners such as Kent FA, England Netball, StreetGames, The RFU, Kent Sport and Folkestone & Hythe District Council. I also look after our ambassador programme which supports local talented athletes and I coordinate our holiday camps, a place where hopefully we will help to nurture the next olympian! I also create video content for SST, which allows my creative side to be flexed. Outside of work, I volunteer with The FA and was previously part of the National Youth Council.

I am here to raise awareness of all the brilliant things our team do every day; whether that’s in schools, sports clubs or in the local community. The work Shepway Sports Trust is doing on a daily basis is phenomenal and I am here to shout about it as much as I physically can – on social media, the radio, local press, on our website, in leaflets and posters, on our blog and out in the community too. It’s also about encouraging people to get involved with what we do at Shepway Sports Trust and perhaps try something new. We’re a really friendly team and there’s no better time than right now. Come say hi!

In my role as Shepway School Games Organiser, I manage the competition calendar and I co-ordinate all of the school sport coaching delivery. I also support schools to achieve the School Games Mark and help schools to establish and maintain clubs which are designed to get inactive pupils more active. Having been a primary school teacher for seven years prior to my current role, it is exciting to further my skills in my specialist subject of PE.

My job is based around community engagement with individuals and marginalised groups. I work with Kent Refugee Action Network and support women and young people to participate in physical activity and sport and I work closely with the Active Families team and our european-funded employability project. I have recently started skateboarding and boxing, ready for the opening of Folkestone 51. I never thought I would be able to box or skate – but, since joining SST, I have been inspired to try and now I love it!

I get to be involved in the many projects that Shepway Sports Trust already run and are implementing. I am the first point of contact for our Active 50 and Active SELF members, which I enjoy immensely. I am based at Three Hills Sports Park and ensure that our customers feel welcomed and looked after when they join one of our many classes on offer or if they should have any questions – I am always here to help!

My job is incredibly rewarding. Every day, I get the opportunity to see how sport can impact children’s lives positively- seeing natural sporting talent, a less active child participating for enjoyment or a child gaining a sense of achievement.  I am a genuine believer that PE and sport can aid educational achievements and social wellbeing. I really enjoy working with schools and their staff to embed sustainable changes that raise the standard of PE.

I am here to develop and raise awareness of everything related to skateboarding within Folkestone. I am a Project Officer for Folkestone 51, the new world class multi-storey skatepark opening within our town. It is my job to cater to skateboarders on both a local and national level to ensure that the park is as successful and inclusive as possible. I run local projects, such as, a weekly pop-up skatepark and also cover marketing for F51 and SkateFolkestone. I have loved skateboarding since the age of 11 and it has subsequently taken over all aspects of my life. It is important to me that Folkestone 51 is not only successful but also authentic and accessible to all.
