Matt has lived in Shepway for the last 11 years and has been playing contact rugby at Canterbury Rugby Club since the age of 8.

After playing age group rugby for Canterbury through to under 18s and winning the Kent Cup, Matt took up touch rugby in January 2015. Since then, he has qualified for the South East England men’s touch team and trained with them throughout the summer. He was scouted for the England u18 men’s and became captain of that team, competing in the Euros in August 2015 and beating Ireland and Scotland to make it to the finals, where they were narrowly beaten by Wales.

Following Matt’s performance in the Euros, he was selected to train with the England men’s squad where he will train in Cambridge throughout the winter in order to improve fitness and ball-skills, ready for final selection for the Euros in Jersey next July.
